The womb that cannot bear new life
is, instead, bearing pain.
Seemingly meaningless and devoid of promise,
for the hard grip – twisted deformed rocks –
makes it unrecognized as gift…
The fruit of love conceived
in union with the Pierced Heart
shedding blood, suffering,
giving of oneself for the other…
The womb that cannot carry
feels the weight of souls.

Christmas is coming soon. Yes, I said it. And much as we are asked to remember “The Reason for the Season”, I am celebrating the upcoming 3-year anniversary of this blog by remembering the reason why I started this thing in the first place… Continue reading

A famous actress is asked about her hopes of winning the Oscar for which she is a nominee. She replies, “It’s an honor just to be nominated.” And we smirk.
But, why be cynical? There are tens of thousands, if not hundreds of thousands or millions, of actresses in the world and only about 10 of them are considered every year for the Academy Award. This nominated actress has received, then, a rare privilege. A group of her peers has singled out her work, recognizing her talent, skill, and heart.

June is the month devoted to the Sacred Heart of Jesus in the Catholic Church. You may ask, what is meant by the Sacred Heart of Jesus? Well, the Sacred Heart is Jesus. And devotion to the Sacred Heart is a devotion to the love of Jesus, devoting oneself to loving Him entirely. The heart is a symbol of love, of course, but also an ancient symbol for the core of one’s being, the sacred abode in which God dwells with the person… and more. I wrote more about the heart HERE, HERE, and HERE. For an article on the more scholarly particulars of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, please click HERE.
What does any of this have to do with strawberries? The answer to that is at the end, after a bit of reflective exploration…
Why Does Anything Exist?
I seek You, Lord, in the wilderness,
in the shadows and the desert of night;
I seek You, Lord, on the mountaintops,
in the meadows and the oceans of light.
For, in You, who are Christ, is Fullness of Life.
The Heart of Reality is Yours.
